Jeweler/farmer/gardener www.moonfirejewelry.com Divorced 2 yes

My life after Whitman took me to the U of Md. for 3 years and then off to S.F. area to an art school where I found my love for metal smithing. During my 2.5 years there and unable to neglect my passion for social justice issues I worked with a national social documentary film collective in alternative
media. There I met the father of my two children in 1969 and moved with him to the central coast range of Oregon where I have been living since late 1970. We found our farm which we own with several family members and friends and raised a daughter and son, and although divorced we are still cooperative land partners.

In the early 70's I worked with a tree planting collective of 12 crews planting trees all around the N.W., a great experience with collective collaboration and hard work in reforesting the land which had seen much clear cutting since the 50's and 60's. Rural Oregon couldn't have been farther from the "Beltline" and I certainly missed the diversity of the DC area. I found myself passionate about encouraging and participating in monthly community gatherings designing what would become a vital rural and still thriving entity. We built a Community Center with various grants, created a volunteer fire dept. a food buying group, child care preschool, a care team and I still love both the land and the people who reside here. The early tree planting days morphed into my work with a local collectively operated rural health center where I trained to do triage, midwifery assistance and dental assisting, more to learn with a great group of folks. Deciding to be closer to home with my second child coming I returned to my love of metal smithing and created a hand fabricated jewelry business so I could work at home. Early on our kids became cultural liaisons in the local "logging" community and a generation later this legacy stays with us. My own kids have gone out into the world for their higher education and have decided to come back to the area, are still connected to our farm, and recently I have been blessed to become a grandparent for the first time.

The land has grabbed me, the earth, water, trees, fish, wildlife and surrounded by forest I have become an avid gardener, growing and putting up as much organic food as possible. We raise kosher beef, goats, sheep, and chickens, and I am blessed daily which choices I made years ago. I still make jewelry, make sure to do as much dancing as possible, including swing, zydeco, tango, and life gets better and better.

I have enjoyed the web site created for this reunion, reading the bios and memorials, veteran site, and look forward to seeing old friends from childhood. Thanks to all who put this together!.

Chateau/Vineyard owner www.palayson.com Married 2 yes
After college I worked in Denmark as an architect for one year.  Then more studies and started a business in Sweden/Denmark and the US.  Married a Dane, had two daughters. Later divorced but had custody.   Met my current Swedish wife on a ski lift and now have an extended family of 5 children and 6 grandchildren (3 girls are married with children).
Bought an old chateau in Provence in 1999 with two chapels from the year 800 and discovered Roman ruins dating from 200 BC.  Created an award-winning vineyard.  The chateau is between Cannes and St Tropez on the French Riviera.  The restoration and vineyard has been a lot of work.  Probably time to retire or move on to the next chapter in our life (we ski a lot in the Alps). Sorry I can not make the reunion to meet old friends - it is our busy time here.

Married at Ft. Myer chapel adjacent to Arlington Nat'l Cemetery; had my wonderful son and daughter while husband in the Army.  After completing service in '69, we moved to Springfield, IL and later divorced.  Have two beautiful granddaughters, the younger to graduate from high school this May.  I graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a BA in Management and an MBA.  I'm retired from the municipally-owned utility company and presently engrossed in ancestry search of my family.  Very enlightening.  Wishing the Class of 1964 a wonderful, memory-filled reunion celebration.  Send Jessie a MessageSend Jessie a Message

Thank you to the organizers for making this happen.  Always lucky, I married way over my head to a wonderful, creative and dynamic soul-mate (you can google Lois Selfon for detials).  After Whitman, I went to Case Western Reserve, Georgetown Law and Stanford Business School.  I spent fifteen years in Federal service (about half in political jobs) and then became a developer and operator of Federal buildings, retiring in 2009.  My wife and I divide our time between Naples, Florida and a farm deep in the Smoky Mountains of NC.  My heart goes out to all of our beloved classmates who are gone too soon but who led such beautiful lives.  Health to all of you in 2015. My husband and I are both "retired", but we seem to have plenty to do.  One of our sons lives a few blocks up the street with his wife and three children - 2 girls and a new baby boy.  Our younger son, his wife and two girls live in York, PA.  We enjoy helping out with the grandchildren, attending school performances, athletic events, concerts - only now there are so many more to schedule.  The DC  area has so much to offer families and we get a do-over with our kids and grandkids. I'm happily married for the second time and have two fabulous children. I'm so grateful for the blessing of a grandson born 3 years ago.

I met someone by the name of Bill W in 1985 and that has made all the difference in my life. I am a very lucky lady.

I look forward to retiring soon and beginning the next chapter of my life.
The years seem to have flown by. It will be fun to catch up with everyone. Whitman was a great experience.
